The Palace Casino is located in the 5.3 million square-foot West Edmonton Mall, one of the world's largest shopping and entertainment centres. West Edmonton Mall attracts in excess of 22 million local visitors and tourists per year. In August 2001, the casino underwent a $12 million, 36,000 square foot expansion and renovation and now encompasses a total of 66,000 square feet on two levels. It features an art deco theme and includes six hand painted murals.

There are several hotels in easy proximity of the casino, but you will be able to find special ‘stay and play’ packages at the Fantasyland Hotel, which is located inside West Edmonton Mall. This hotel features superior and executive suites, as well as fantasy-themed rooms designed to recreate a specific place or era. West Edmonton Mall Inn is located only steps away from the casino. Other hotels near the casino include the Executive Royal Hotel West Edmonton and the lower priced Comfort Inn West Edmonton and the Quality Inn West Harvest.
The casino covers two floors and has over 20 gaming tables, more than 600 slot machines, a poker room and an exclusive VIP room. After walking a picket line for more than10 months, about 100 striking workers voted 86 per cent in favour of anewcontract Tuesday night.
Under the terms of the contract, dealers will get up to $1.50 an hour more than the $8.80 they were making on average. Servers will get another $3 to $4 an hour, compared to the $7 they made before they hit the picket line.
Full and part-time employees will also get signing bonuses. The new contract will expire in 2009.
'It's been a long 10 months, so there's a lot to celebrate.We got ourselves a very good deal and we're quite pleased with many of the changes we were able to achieve,' said Christine McMeckan, a spokeswoman for Local 401 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union.
